Pranayama, Mudra and Mantra (25 Hours)

Learning Objectives: 

  • Understand the correlation between breath practices and a regulated nervous system. 

  • Understand the effects of each pranayama practice, and demonstrate the ability to lead a pranayama practice. 

  • Know the origins of mantras, correct pronunciation and purpose. 

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead a mantra practice. 

CURRICULUM OUTLINE

Intro to Sanskrit and Pranayama (10 hours – weekend 1)

  • Intro to Sanskrit (origin, pronunciation, and basic grammar rules)

  • Pranayama fundamentals 

  • The breath and the nervous system

 

Mudra (10 hours – weekend 2)

  • How and why to practice

  • How to teach each mudra

  • Pranayama continued 

 

Mantra (10 hours – weekend 3)

  • Origins of Mantra

  • Bija, Shanti and Deity Mantras

  • The stories and energetic qualities behind the mantras

  • How to teach

  • Pranayama conclusion
