Processing Grief & Reclaiming Vitality
with Sheila Singh
Saturday, October 29th, 2-4:30pm
$45 per student • In-Person Only
Grief is not a problem to be solved. It is one of the many vital and shared expressions of our human existence. It is personal and collective, and the companionship of community is essential in grief work. As Francis Keller states in his book, The Wild Edge of Sorrow, "There is no love that does not contain loss and no loss that is not a reminder of the love we carry for what we once held close”. Between the two, there are multitudes of moods and emotions that may arise in the wake of grief. In our time together, we will co-create a sacred container so we can remember and honor our losses.
There will be time to explore the beliefs we hold around grieving to allow it to emerge from the shadows gently. There is no prescribed timing, way, or destination for the individual or the community. While our grief is often interconnected, our movement through it is unique. There will be space to honor this and to hold our personal and collective process with regard and compassion.
I will weave together a trauma-informed, somatic approach to our processing. Practices will include brief meditations, an opportunity to feel, share and listen, and a longer iRest® yoga nidra to integrate our work. The group will be limited to 10 people and the workshop will be held in person only at Studio Satya.
