Satya Book Club: lighter
with Katie McBrearty-Sheilds
Tuesdays in January, 7:30-8:30pm

In-Person or Online • FREE

Poet, meditator, and speaker Yung Pueblo, writes of his path to deep healing after years of drug abuse had taken a toll on his mind and body. He was searching for a way to move forward and by examining and addressing the anxieties and fears that he had been running away from, he no longer felt like a stranger inside of his heart and mind.

From this he began meditation – he began trusting his intuition – and with time began to feel more love from within. His journey is a lifetime of practice, it doesn’t just happen. What he did learn is that real healing is possible.

In January, we will read his newest work, lighter. We will learn how he cultivated self-compassion and how he became emotionally mature. We'll see how, as the heaviness falls away, our minds can stop being overburdened with tension and we can connect with the present. He teaches us it’s our responsibility to take charge of our own healing journey, to watch and be aware as we grow stronger, and to see how our self-awareness expands. Perhaps most importantly, we will learn how through our own healing we can contribute to building a world that is less harmful and more compassionate.
