Andrea Barton
Andrea began practicing yoga as exercise over twenty years ago, although it was during pregnancy when a deeper connection naturally occurred. A new world of experience came alive through breath, sound, visualization, meditation, internal sensations of transformation, and profound relaxation. Andrea fell in love with the ways prenatal and postnatal yoga led towards balance— dancing between strength and suppleness, effort and acceptance, fear of the unknown and trusting in Life itself.
Following three empowering birth experiences and seven years raising her small children, Andrea chose to professionally hold space for mothers through yoga. She is the owner of Spacious Mothers Yoga Therapy where she supports mothers experiencing perinatal mood disorders and parenting distress. Andrea is a registered prenatal and children’s yoga teacher (RPYT, RCYT) and a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT). A forever student, she is passionate about self-study, reading sacred texts and embracing continued study of wisdom lineages with a variety of teachers.
Now in the phase of parenting teenagers, Andrea’s yoga practice is best reflected in her relationships at home and in the world. She volunteers weekly with Postpartum Support International as a helpline responder, support group leader, and yoga/mindfulness teacher, and facilitates local family support groups through Partners in Parenting.
