Mid-Body Freedom: Hip, Groin,
and Lower Back

with John Mackey
Saturday, September 7th • 2-4:00pm
In-Person Only • $40

Discover the middle body alignment for our personal structure, so that we experience freedom in standing asana. Feel a new “rightness” for standing poses. Thus we can allow the cues we hear during a yoga class to trigger us to remember our stability and strength.

We will learn:

  • how sacral alignment affects back pain

  • the relationship of pelvic tilt (anteversion) to free leg movement

  • simple releases for low back pain, hip joint pain, hip rotation, sciatica

  • proper alignment, movement and posture

  • pelvic floor awareness and relaxation (groin pulls)

  • strategies for better posture

In the practice session, we will

  • have a short practice for middle body freedom

  • exercise bones, ligaments, and tendons for strength

  • engage different muscles for support and further flexibility

  • use the back core for safe bending

  • find hip to foot strength for balance

This will be a feedback workshop, so ask questions and/or ask to explore special topics (hamstring pulls, frozen sacroiliac joint, etc.) IF you have ONE of the following, please bring it for the fascia release portion: either a rolling pin, a wooden dowel rod ( 1 inch diameter, about 12 inches long), or a theracane. Do not buy anything special.
