Planter of Seeds
A Circle to Honor Grief & Celebrate Life
with Hollie Meador
Saturday, February 7th • 4-5:30pm
In-Person Only • Free to All
Grief. It is something we don’t spend much time talking about, much less sitting with the multitude of ways it can show up in our lives. Like life itself, it’s not linear or predictable, and contains more than what meets the eye.
Profound sadness, deep regret, expansive joy, great love, rage, sorrow, anger, gratitude – each of these seeds exist in the soil of grief.
Grief stops for no one, and the world rarely stops for grief. Traditionally, however there was a pause; a loss within a community created space to honor the moment, to be with grief and with those grieving.
In these times, we do not always have that luxury. In these times, there is also a deep need to slow down and touch the tender places where grief dwells.
This offering is intended to create space – a brief pause – to honor grief and celebrate life. This can be grief of a person or pet close to you who has passed, grief for the ending of relationships, grief for the climate, for the state of the world. Tending to grief collectively can be like a balm to the soul, bringing what might feel lonely to a space of being held.
During our time, we will arrive and settle in with a brief discussion of grief including readings to contemplate, gentle movement to integrate, listen to a piece of music that inspired this gathering, open to any sharing or reflections, and end with a time of rest with singing bowls.
There will be an altar, and you are welcome to bring something to add for our time together that is symbolic of your loss (photo, stone, feather, etc – you will take this with you at the end).
Dress comfortably, and bring anything you would like to sit on or use to feel cozy during our time together. There will be light snacks afterward, for those who would like to continue visiting.
